Tinalley String Quartet returns in 2012, inspired by the resounding success of its inaugural National Concert Series in 2011.

This season bears witness to the tremendous breadth of repertoire that the string quartet genre has to offer, ranging from a feast of musical languages in the compositions of Bach, Beethoven and Shostakovich, to the many varied voices of the romantics - Webern, Schumann and Brahms.

We are delighted to welcome this season’s featured guest artist, the internationally acclaimed Australian pianist, Kristian Chong. Known for his sensitive interpretations and sublime touch, Kristian joins us for Brahms’ epic Piano Quintet in f minor.

Our third program - a tribute to the sounds of America, features the latest string quartet offering by John Adams, Barber’s poetic ‘Adagio’ from his String Quartet Op.11, and an irresistible favourite, Dvorak’s wonderful ‘American’ Quartet.
